CONSUMER CONNECT GOES TO SIQUIJOR

The Department of Energy in partnership with the Visayas Field Office (VFO) successfully conducted the seminar titled “Consumer Connect: Empowering Energy Consumers with Proper Information to Make Better Choices” with the barangay officials of Maria, Siquijor. The seminar yielded a total of 100 new Barangay Ambassadors for Energy Consumer Welfare and Protection.

Consumer Connect is a nationwide campaign of the Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office (CWPO) of the DOE that aims to establish core groups of energy consumer advocates.

The seminar covered topics specifically designed for energy consumers such as the Net Metering Program, energy efficiency and conservation, consumer safety measures in buying Liquid Petroleum Products (LPP) and LPG, and rights & obligations of consumers under Magna Carta for residential electricity consumers. Resource persons from the DOE, Energy Regulatory Commission - Visayas (ERC-Visayas) and Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative (PROSIELCO) shared their expertise.
